AV node: Abbreviation for atrioventricular node, a major part of the electrical system in the heart that acts as a gateway between the atria and the ventricles. An electrical signal generated by the sinoatrial node (the heart's natural pacemaker) moves through the heart until it reaches the atrioventricular node, a cluster of cells at the bottom of the right atrium. The AV node delays the signal before it is passed to the ventricles. This lets the atria fully contract before the ventricles contract.

Abdomen: The region of the body located below the diaphragm, above the pelvis, and in front of the spine, containing vital organs such as the stomach, intestines, liver, and others. It is divided into nine regions for medical purposes: the right and left hypochondriac regions, epigastrium, right and left lumbar regions, umbilical, right and left iliac regions, and hypogastrium. The term "abdominal" refers to anything related to or located in the abdomen. The abdominal cavity is the space within this region, while the abdominal wall consists of the muscular tissue that surrounds the abdomen. The abdominal aorta is the portion of the aorta that lies between the diaphragm and where it divides into the iliac arteries. Conditions such as abdominal distension (stretching due to gas or fluid) and abdominal pain (caused by indigestion or disorders) are common medical issues related to the abdomen. Abdominal viscera refers to the internal organs contained within the abdomen.

atrioventricular node: Also known as the AV node. A major part of the electrical system in the heart that acts as a gateway between the atria and the ventricles.
